How to find a legal translator or interpreter in Austria
The Austrian Federal Ministry of Justice maintains a list (the Gerichstdolmetscherliste) of court interpreters who have shown that they satisfy certain legal requirements (such as the possession of adequate specialised knowledge) and who have taken an oath and been certified by the courts.
A dedicated webpage has been established for this purpose, which can be also accessed via the Austrian Justice homepage.
Since 2004 the webpage has provided access to:
- a database of translators or interpreters, which can be searched using set criteria
- legal information on translation and interpreting services.
Is access to the translator database free of charge?
The webpage is publicly available and access is free of charge.
