The Service, Enforcement and Non-payment Notice Offices (Uffici Notifiche Esecuzione Protesti, UNEP) at the courts of appeal (corti d’appello) and courts (tribunali) before which the dispute for which service is requested was brought.

Article 7 – Assistance in address enquiries

For the purposes of Article 7(1), Italy provides assistance by naming the UNEP at the Rome Court of Appeal as the designated authority to which transmitting agencies may address requests about determining the address of the person to be served.

The UNEP does not submit on its own initiative requests for information about addresses to domicile registries or other databases in cases where the address indicated in the request for service is not correct.

For the time being, no fees are charged for the service of documents originating abroad other than those laid down for documents served, at the request of a party, within Italy.

Italy opposes the direct service of judicial documents by diplomatic or consular agents on persons residing in another Member State, except where the document is to be served on an Italian national residing in another Member State.
