Business registers

The EU single market has resulted in the number of companies expanding beyond their national borders. As of June 2017 the business registers of all EU countries have been interconnected and become searchable.

Furthermore, over the past decade the jurisprudence of the European Court of Justice has opened up the possibility for businesses to incorporate in one Member State and conduct their business activity either partly or entirely in another Member State.

The term "business register" comprises the national commercial registers, companies' registers, and any other register storing company information and making it available to the public within the meaning of Directive 2009/101/EC.

Please consult relevant subpages to find more information on business registers at European level and national business registers.
