Working Groups
EJN-civil working groups discuss specific topics/issues that are relevant for courts, legal practitioners and competent authorities. They may develop new tools to improve or harmonise judicial cooperation.
Below is the list of the active working groups:
Working Group on a practice guide for the Taking of Evidence Regulation (Regulation 2020/1783). Following the recent recast of the Taking of Evidence Regulation, this working group revises the previous practice guide, with a focus on digitalisation.
Working Group on the visibility of the Network. This working group discusses initatives to improve the visibility of the network in the field. Its objective is to make sure that judges, competent authorities and legal practitioners who require its assistance are fully informed.
Working Group on the integration of court clerks into the network. This working group discusses various actions to make sure that court staff, in Member States where they have specific responsibilities in judicial cooperation, are adequately involved and represented in the network.
Working Group on Succession (Regulation 650/2012). This working group discusses specific questions arising from the operation of the Succession Regulation and proposes solutions to identified issues.
Working Group on the digitalisation of Brussels IIb (Regulation 2019/1111). This working group intends to lay the necessary digital ground work for the Regulation, ahead of the start of the Committee’s work that will take place in 2026 – 2027.

EJN practice guide on the Brussels IIb Regulation, matrimonial matters and matters of parental responsibility in cross-border cases (Regulation 2019/111)
In parallel with the entry into application of the new Brussels IIb Regulation, the Network has published a practice guide to help courts and legal practitioners apply the new instrument. It is available online in all EU languages.

The long-awaited practice guide on the Maintenance Regulation is available in all EU languages. It will provide crucial guidance to all judges and practitioners dealing with a cross-border case involving child or spousal support.
