Brexit notice

The United Kingdom left the European Union on 31 January 2020 and the transition period for the withdrawal ended on 31 December 2020. Here you can find more information what are the changes following this.

The Commission is in the process of updating some of the content on this website in light of the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union.

If the site contains content that does not yet reflect the withdrawal of the United Kingdom, it is unintentional and will be addressed.

In the context of civil and commercial matters, pending procedures and proceedings initiated before the end of the transition period will continue under EU law. For this purpose, the e-Justice Portal will maintain the following information related to the United Kingdom, on the basis of a mutual agreement with the United Kingdom, until the end of 2022:

  1. Information on national law (national factsheets) managed by the European Judicial Network in civil and commercial matters
  2. Information and official notifications provided to the European Judicial Atlas in civil matters, with the exception of the information on Public documents (Regulation (EU) 2016/1191)

Until the end of 2022, the United Kingdom can continue to be selected in online (dynamic) forms for the purpose of pending procedures and proceedings in civil and commercial matters initiated before the end of the transition period. An exception to this rule are the Public documents forms, in which the UK should not be selected after 1 January 2021.

The European Commission has published a revised "Notice to stakeholders concerning the withdrawal of the United Kingdom and EU rules in the field of civil justice and private international law". You can consult the new document here.
