What types of announcements are published?

Seven types of official announcements are published in the Diário da República:

  • Official judicial announcements relating to the infringement of competition rules, and published in series 2 of the official gazette, pursuant to Law No 19/2012 (legal framework on competition).

  • Announcements of the Supreme Administrative Court, Norte Central Administrative Court and Sul Central Administrative Court, which must be published in series 1 of the Official Gazette, pursuant to the principle of parallel or identical forms of publication, provided for in Article 81 of the Code of Procedure of Administrative Courts: the act of summonsing the interested parties (or interested counterparties) must be published in the same series of the Official Gazette in which the disputed act was published.

Is access to the official announcements free?

Yes. Pursuant to Articles 1 and 3 of Decree-Law No 83/2016 (approving the public service of universal free access to the Diário da República).

What types of searches can be made?

Users may freely research all content published in series 1 and 2 of the Link opens in new windowDiário da República. Users have two search criteria they can use:

  • Generic searches (e.g. Google), typing the text into the search field;
  • Advanced searches, using the search fields selected by the user.

As of which date were the official announcements available in electronic format?

Since 1 July 2006, the electronic edition of the Diário da República has been authentic, and the publication of acts therein has been valid for all legal purposes, pursuant to Article 1(5) of Law No 74/98 of 11 November 1998 (as amended and republished by Law No 43/2014 of 11 July 2014).

Can searches be saved and notifications sent when criteria are met?

Yes. Users can access Link opens in new windowthe website of the official gazette and subscribe free of charge to a daily newsletter, selecting pre-defined keywords or publications in the search fields to receive information that meets their criteria.

Are the official announcements freely available as open data? If so, where can the repository and/or technical information be found?

The official announcements are not available as open data because we have not yet provided a repository with all the information in a structured format for reuse.
