This article provides an overarching look into the development of consumer rights within the EU, specifically in relation to the shared consumer protection competencies between the EU and its member states. The main focus of the article is the examination of the various articles of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, but it also directly touches upon several Directives, including 2005/29/EC. The article also makes use of a number of (non-Hungarian) cases that relate to the issue.
