Planned or premature obsolescence is the strategy of the manufacturer by which they want to force consumers to buy their products more often. It is achieved in various technical, legal and psychological ways, among others. Related to this is the notion of the right to repair, which seeks to exercise the consumer's right to repair the product independently or with a third party, regardless of the manufacturer's approval.
