  • Headnote
    This article describes essential rules of interpreting national legal acts in the light of Directive 99/44/EC. The author indicates that such acts should be interpreted in accordance with the provisions of the Directive. Moreover, all exemptions from the rules of the Directive have to be clearly specified. .

    The author also explains that national legislation may provide for a wider range of consumer's rights than that defined in the Directive. The article also states that the provisions and terms of Directive 99/44/EC should be interpreted independently of other, similar international regulations.
