    The article addresses the new Act on Consumer Rights of 30 May 2014 that implements Directive 2011/83 EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 October 2011 on consumer rights.

    The author analyses the specific impact of the new regulation on the insurance services market. Author also points the change of the method of harmonization in consumer law. Older method based on the minimal harmonization is replaced in the full harmonization.

    The article discusses the scope of application of the new Act and its implications for insurance contracts concluded with consumers. The most important changes are connected with the protection of consumers who have concluded off-premises and distance contracts. The author points out that one of the key changes concerns the definition of off-premises and distance contracts.
