  • Headnote
The new Civil Code brings some principal changes in the legislation of contracts negotiated between entrepreneurs and consumers. Due the fact that new European Directive 85/577/EEC on consumer rights has entered into the force on 12 December 2011 and that it represents the full harmonization of consumer law within the European Union, it was necessary to adopt these essential changes. The main changes consist of the unification of the time period for withdrawal from off-premises contracts and distance contracts and other changes about detailed legislation concerning off-premises contracts which are favorable to consumers. However, the author finds that this legislation can be improved and stipulates more details about ancillary contracts and specify the term of “business premises”.
