The book describes legal mechanisms for the protection of collective consumer interests existing in selected EU Member States. Both EU legislation and protection guaranteed by national legal systems are discussed.
The author presents the opinion that public law mechanisms protecting collective consumer interests tend to be more effective than traditional private law mechanisms. Furthermore, effective protection of collective consumer interests may be guaranteed by both public and private law mechanisms, which should go in line with each other.
Those arguments are supported by a thorough analysis of the solutions at both national and EU-level.
