The new factsheets on the rights of defendants and the rights of victims of crime in criminal proceedings are now available on the European e-Justice Portal. The factsheets provide in plain language information concerning all the Member States.

The factsheets on the Link opens in new windowrights of defendants in criminal proceedings take anyone suspected or accused of a crime through what they can expect at any stage in the process: from investigation of a crime through to post-trial. They also deal with minor road traffic offences. They will be particularly useful to any EU citizen involved in a crime in another Member State and they also provide a good initial overview for others involved in the judicial process, such as lawyers acting on behalf of accused persons.
