Headnote
This report provides an assessment of the application of Directive 2008/122/EC (the Timeshare Directive) in Member States and evaluates its effects. The report finds that, in general, the Directive appears to be a useful tool in protecting consumers within the sector but that problems still occur where the scope is not broad enough (e.g.: termination of contracts) and where the Directive may yet be circumvented. Nevertheless, the Commission concludes that there seems to be no need to modify either the scope or the provisions of the Directive.
