Romania adopts the "Small Reform Law"
Romania has adopted the Law for Accelerating Judicial Proceedings ("The Small Reform Law")
Romania has adopted the Law for accelerating judicial proceedings, which aims at rendering the activity of courts and prosecutor’s offices more efficiently by shortening procedural terms and reducing costs for both citizens and the state. The law is designed as a step in preparing the implementation of the codes, its provisions being compatible with the legal solutions envisaged in the new codes.
Furthermore, several provisions of the draft law respond positively to a number of recommendations set forth by the European Commission in the most recent summer reports on the Co-operation and Verification Mechanism (2009 and 2010).
The law was published in the Official Journal of Romania no. 714 of October, 26th. Most of its provisions shall enter into force 30 days from the date of publication. Several new provisions on administrative divorce and divorce requested before a notary public shall enter into force 60 days from the date of publication.
