Non-accessible content
Despite our best efforts to ensure the accessibility of the European e-Justice Portal, we are aware of some limitations, which we are working to fix. Below is a description of known limitations and potential solutions. Please contact us if you encounter an issue not listed below.
Known limitations for the European e-Justice Portal:
- Keyboard: On the homepage, some interactive components cannot be accessed using a keyboard.
- Heading hierarchy: Some pages do not present content in a properly structured heading hierarchy.
- Navigation: In the navigation menus, non-interactive elements may receive keyboard focus. Buttons and links that open submenus do not have accessible names. Additionally, the HTML structure of lists is not properly implemented.
- Session Expiration: A warning message appears when the session expires, but it disappears after a few seconds.
- Forms: Required fields are not properly marked. On pages with dropdown lists, these elements are not accessible to screen reader users. Fields that request user data do not support autocomplete and may lack a proper labeling structure.
- Images: SVG images may be inaccessible to screen reader users due to missing attributes. In the Digital Signature troubleshooting guide, some images do not have alternative text.
- Links: The link to print a page has an incorrect description.
- Contact Form: The form relies solely on browser validation.
- Search: On the search results page, content in a different language is not properly marked.
- Content on Hover: Content that appears on hover cannot be dismissed, hovered over, or made persistent.
- Use of Colour: Some links and disabled content are distinguished only by colour, without additional indicators.
- Zoom and Resize: Pages with interactive tools may lose content when adapting to different screen sizes or when zoomed to 200%.
- Tooltips: Some pages and forms contain tooltips that are not accessible via keyboard or screen reader.
- Contrast: Certain parts of the content, including text, informative images, and buttons, may lack sufficient contrast against the background.
- Focus: The search button in the header does not have a visible focus indicator.
- WAI-ARIA Attributes: Some pages may use WAI-ARIA attributes incorrectly or with invalid values.
