The author discusses the case of a promise made by a real estate agent, which in retrospect turned out to be incorrect, as a result of which the purchased property is worthless. It tackles the question of when a property’s seller is liable for the information provided by a real estate agent and whether statements made by a real estate agent are also to be regarded as "public statements" in the sense of paragraph 922 (2) ABGB (General Civil Code).
