The new Directive 2020/1828 on representative actions was finally published in the Official Journal in December 2020. Each Member State shall implement the respective legislation into their national law in December 2022 at the latest. The article at hand strives to summarise the main principles of the representative actions as proposed by the Directive, such as legal standing, type of collective actions, position of individual consumers, safeguards against abusive litigation or financing of collective proceedings. It further examines if and how the new legal instrument will affect t Czech national law. The article also points out the concurring Czech Proposal on collective proceedings which is currently being discussed in the Czech Parliament
