This article focuses on consumer protection against unfair contractual terms in the light of Directive 93/13/EEC.

The article further analyses the implementation of EU consumer law into the Slovak legal system, as well as the regulation of unfair contractual terms in consumer contracts in Act No. 40/1964 Coll. Civil Code, as amended in connection with the implementation of Directive 93/13/EEC.

The author also inspects consumer protection in Slovak civil procedural law (in particular the implementation into Act No. 40/1964 Coll. Civil Code, as amended. and Act No. 250/2007 Coll. on consumer protection, as amended) as well as in other specific legal acts.

The final section of the article considers whether a legal entity may also be in the position of a consumer.
